Installation

1. Download the file XBCDv103.exe.

2. Choose the type of installation from the list below.

XBCD Upgrade: If you already have XBCD installed.
Windows XP New Installation: If you have not installed XBCD or any other drivers before.
Windows XP Upgrade: If you already have other drivers installed.

XBCD Upgrade

3. Run the file you downloaded in Step 1. The XBCD installation will inform you that if the installation is not an upgrade, you will need to uninstall the controller in Device Manager. Click "Yes" to continue the installation.

4. Click "Next" through the rest of the screens in the XBCD installation. At the end, you will need to unplug the gamepad and plug it back in.

Windows XP New Installation

4. Click "Next" through the rest of the screens in the XBCD installation. At the end, you will need to unplug the gamepad and plug it back in.

5. Windows should find the device and should prompt you to install the "XBCD XBox Gamepad". Select "Install the software automatically" and click "Next."

6. Since the driver is not digitally signed, Windows might ask you if you want to continue with the installation. Click "Continue Anyway."

7. Once the installation is done, click "Finish." Windows will also prompt you to install an "HID-compliant game controller." Select "Install the software automatically" and click "Next."

8. Once the installation is done, click "Finish."

Windows XP Upgrade

3. Open Device Manager one of the following ways:

Hold down the Windows key and press the Break key; System Properties will come up. Under the Hardware tab click the "Device Manager" button.
Right-click on "My Computer" on the desktop, and select "Properties." Under the Hardware tab click the "Device Manager" button.

4. Expand the "Human Interface Devices" section by click the + sign on its left. Right-click on the name of your Xbox controller, select "Uninstall" and click "OK" on the prompt that comes up.

5. Run the file you downloaded in Step 1. The XBCD installation will inform you that if the installation is not an upgrade, you will need to uninstall the controller in Device Manager. Click "Yes" to continue the installation.

6. Click "Next" through the rest of the screens in the XBCD installation. At the end, you will need to unplug the gamepad and plug it back in.

7. Windows should find the device and should prompt you to install a driver. Select "Install from a list or specific location" and click "Next."

8. Select "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install" and click "Next."

9. From the list of compatible drivers, select "XBCD Xbox Gamepad" and click "Next."

10. Since the driver is not digitally signed, Windows might ask you if you want to continue with the installation. Click "Continue Anyway."

11. Once the installation is done, click "Finish." Windows will also prompt you to install an "HID-compliant game controller." Select "Install the software automatically" and click "Next."

12. Once the installation is done, click "Finish."
